It was cold. I actually kind of expected warmer weather in Florida...i was hoping to go swimming in the ocean every day and lie on the beach and go snorkleing and swim with dolphins...some kind of fantasy like that. instead it was cold. 40's and 50's. COLD for south florida...record tempertures in 20 years or something was what i kept hearing. but anyway...i am grateful i got to get away at all...

they've got a bubble room somehwere on Captiva. we went there and...it's a really weird place...SO much crap stuffed inside like half naked vintage dolls and old cardboard crackerjack boxes bascially anything "old". and of course a ton of framed pictures of old movie stars. even in the bathrooms. which i thought was freakin brilliant. they also had this creepy room that was like...an hommage to Santa Claus. it was weird. and we drank out of jars. THAT'S real recycling. oh and there were adorable little fish swimming round in these sort of built in tanks. that's exactly what i want in my house. not all the weird christmas junk but the fish...

went to the shell museum too. lol. yupp. it wasn't too bad but that's how cold it was.
actaully i did collect a bunch of shells...those beaches are perfect for something like that. especially in winter, the cold northeast winds (i think) blow in such a way that the shells are pulled toward shore... yeah so i got a good stash. or decent i'd think.

what else...oh saw the manatees. TONS of them. there's this power plant that releases all this hot water into a canal and the manatees like to swim up there and hang out in the warm water. turns out if it hadn't been so cold, they woudln't have been there. so that's one thing that worked out...they are cute. but it's so sad to see all the motor boat scars on their backs.
